It’s not often we have our expectations exceeded but this was certainly the case with Jamie and his team at JCT General Building. Jamie has such a friendly personality and obvious expertise in his trade that we had trust in him from the outset. He provided a detailed line-by-line quote for the works which meant we had transparency over the costs and visibility of those items that were not included or where the price could change depending on the level of finish we decided upon (for example, the new doors)
When not on site fitting the new steel in the kitchen, Jamie regularly popped in to discuss how the work was progressing and what was next on the schedule. Jayden (our principal builder) was nothing short of first-rate and much of the finished work is down to his skill and professionalism. It’s clear that Jamie and his team take enormous pride in the quality of their work and this is also reflected in the top-class plumbers, electricians, and painter that Jamie uses.
At all times we were consulted when a decision needed to be made (and, boy, there were so many things that we had never considered). Always reliably on time, disruption was kept to a minimum and at the end of each day there was a thorough clean and tidy-up (a lesson we could and should learn form!!). We are so pleased with the finished work and cannot recommend JCT General Building highly enough.

A small project to convert a car port into a garage, completed on time and within budget by people who gave us confidence that they would do an excellent job – which was what they did.
We needed to make a planning application that met the constraints of living within a conservation area. So, we commissioned an architect to design our conversion, and to submit our successful planning application. Our architect also helped us to draw up a shortlist of local firms, which we invited to quote for taking on our project.
JCT’s quote was competitively priced and included sufficient detail to convince us that Jamie, owner of the company, both understood what we wanted and had a clear idea of how this could be delivered. We were proved correct in our assessment of Jamie. We were impressed by Jamie’s skill and professionalism, and by that of the tradesmen he brought onto the project.
Having builders bashing and crashing in part of your home, while you are living in the rest of it, is never completely easy. But Jamie managed with good humour and competence both his team and his business relationship with us. And, when something unforeseen inevitably arose, Jamie quickly adapted his plan to achieve a good outcome.

Construction schedule & quality of work:
On time with construction schedule with some jobs being completed in advance of the schedule date. All the products used were of a high quality, Jamie is a perfectionist when completing each job and will re-do the jobs if he believes it was not up to the prefect standard he required. His work ethic was beyond belief and of a very high standard. Working environment kept tidy and well organised with health and safety a priority.
